The best advice about any art is that sometimes you just need to go with it and don’t worry about how much you understand. Life is a conversation in a noisy pub. You're not supposed to hear every word. Just go with it.
Not understanding is fine. When you start from a point of view that you're not going to try something because you don't understand it, then… it's fucking sad.
The main objection I have is that some literature is too good, too important, to be boiled down to being labelled as just one thing, when it is so much more.
