This is not a "how to" section.

I'm not going to tell you how to write. There's enough of that in the world. What I will do is tell you what I do and the "rules" that I think writers should adhere to. Actually, there's so much that is just inate to writing that, when it goes awry, you can't help but feel that something is amiss, even when you're not sure what it is.

You can jump straight in to reading about writing or you can explore the Beauty and Power of writing series, which looks at all the ways writing does what it does. Or you can explore why, "Dudes don't do fiction," which is part aborted PhD research and part an eye opener that means you will forever be checking out what men are reading in public.
